Welcome to Orange County's resource for both parents of teen drivers (or soon-to-be teen drivers) and newly licensed teens.  This site is intended to provide information, resources and a means to find answers to questions related to the many issues facing both new drivers and their parents.

Information on the Web site ranges from articles on specific topics, helpful tips, links to valuable resources, frequently asked questions (updated with your questions) and other tools to help new teen drivers navigate around the hazards encountered during the first few years of driving.

Why a Web site addressing this specific demographic?  The answer is safety.  Teens, especially 16 year old drivers, have a much higher risk of crashing than other age groups.  As parents we may know this but don't know that there are ways to decrease the risks.  Many parents also tell us that they are either un-aware of, or don't understand the laws related to provisional driver licenses.  Our goal is to help clear up some of the confusion regarding these and other issues.

Why parents are an important part of the process
We realize the involvement of parents is vital if they would like to see their new drivers become safe new drivers.  However, many parents find obtaining information on how to mentor your teen through these years difficult to obtain.

Parents often underestimate their value as a mentor as their teens approach the magic driving age.  They also play an important role by setting limits and rules for their teens, choosing driving schools, selecting the best vehicle and many other decisions which can make the difference between having a teen with a clean driving record verses one with a dented fender...or worse.

For both parents and teens, thank you for taking an active role in traffic safety.  We hope you find the information and links on this site informative and helpful.
